Volcom is a streetwear clothing and accessories brand for men and women established in 1991 when two best friends, Richard Woolcott and Tucker Hall, went on a snowboarding trip to Lake Tahoe. They realized they were both unhappy with their jobs and discussed the idea of starting a riding company based around the three sports they enjoyed: snowboarding, skateboarding, and surfing. With $5,000 dollars from Richard's dad, they started the process and soon Volcom was born. These two boys were heavily inspired by the fact that snowboarding and skateboarding were looked down upon, and they felt the need to change that. Volcom's idea incorporated a philosophy of the times, "Youth against establishment," which supports young creative thinking. Richard and Tucker felt it was time to take a stand and prove that times are changing, and that should not be frowned upon. Volcom offers a wide range of products including boardshorts, pants, tees, hoodies, chino shorts and pants, hats, wallets, socks, and belts. If you're the rebellious type and love to board, regardless of whether it's on the mountain or in the streets, Volcom is for you.
