The Ave Magazine
NY, NY – After a year of opening minds and redefining hip-hop journalism,
THE AVE magazine hits newsstands this fall with its first anniversary issue.
In celebration of this milestone, THE AVE secured an exclusive cover story
with hip-hop icon Nas and his father, jazz legend Olu Dara.
Readers are introduced to the inner workings of the Queensbridge MC's most personal relationship, as Nas and his father discuss parenthood, politics
and pop culture.
The second cover story features an intimate conversation with Roc-A-Fella
Records' Beanie Sigel, as he shares his thoughts on music, family and the
law. With an impending criminal case on the horizon that could result in 20
or more years in jail, the Philly MC takes a moment to air out the many
downsides of celebrity and why he can no longer afford to take his freedom for granted.
While his name has been recited in numerous hip-hop lyrics, few people know the true story of Emmett Til and how his brutal murder helped start the civil rights movement. With his case recently reopened after nearly 50
years, THE AVE reflects on Till's murder and the current state of race
relations.
Continuing the dialogue about important social issues, THE AVE moves forward in exposing major concerns in the community. This includes an investigative piece on depression and mental disorders, as well as articles on prisoners getting stripped of their voting rights; Congress considering a mandatory draft; the rise of obesity among our children; and offering tips on how to handle aggressive cops. Also featured in this issue are hip-hop icons De La Soul discussing the basics of their longevity, and Disturbing the Peace member Shawnna who talks about taking care of a child with cerebral palsy.
From the biggest stars to the most important issues of the day, THE AVE
is truly a street movement in print. To read more original stories, log on to
