An Indie Rock Cover Of Drake’s "Hold On" By The Arctic Monkeys

Who doesn’t love unexpected cover songs? The Arctic Monkeys have been a staple of the indie rock scene since they formed in 2002, with influences ranging from garage rock to post-punk. The last person we expected them to cover is Drake, although, come to think of it, pretty much any Drake song would make for a good indie rock song. Or an emo-goth song.

In fact, the Arctic Monkey’s latest album, AM, released on September 9th, 2013, has a lot of hip hop influence. Alex Turner, their lead singer, described the album as “like a Dr Dre beat, but we’ve given it an Ike Turner bowl-cut and sent it galloping across the desert on a Stratocaster.” What a deliciously British way to put it, Alex.
