Daft Punk is making history this year. Random Access Memories shattered charts all over the world, despite the album’s sonic dissimilarity from most other recent dance/electronic releases. Despite being more funk/pop-inspired than your traditional EDM club bangers, it still got insane play time in clubs and on the radio. Additionally, the album is the first to be nominated for both Album of the Year and Best Dance/Electronic Album for the 2014 Grammys.
For their new video for “Instant Crush,” the duo enlisted Julian Casablancas, the lead singer of the Strokes. They’ve gone for a decidedly less shiny and glamourous vibe–the subdued video takes place in a museum and tells a story of two lovers who suffer a tragic fate. And they’re both played by wax figures. A little creepy, but kinda beautiful, too. In some ways, this video reminds us of an 80s version of the video Tyler directed for an anonymous band earlier this year. Seems like true-love-gone-wrong is a popular theme this winter.

Remember that time we condensed all of Random Access Memories into 6 minutes?
