We’ve been keeping an eye on Houston rapper DeLorean since earlier this year, when he dropped a banger with Big K.R.I.T. called “Whip.” DeLo first made his name off the self-released Hood Politics series, in which he showcased his ability to capture the essence of the south with vivid imagery and a leaned-out, drawling flow. Regardless of how you feel about that style, you can’t question his honesty. You can feel that his music comes from the heart. It’s authentic shit.
We had a chance to catch up with DeLo at A3C to talk about his beat selection process, working with Curtis Snow, his B.E.T. freestyle, a couple secret upcoming projects and more.
