MellowHigh Release Self-Titled Album Plus Grimy New Video For “Extinguisher”

MellowHigh’s new album just dropped and it is FIRE. It features appearances from Tyler, The Creator, Earl Sweatshirt, Smoke DZA, and Curren$y, so there shouldn’t be any doubt in your mind: this shit is wild. Switching back and forth smoothly between dreamy electronic cuts and a gangsta-rap feel, the whole album feels eclectic yet cohesive. What stands out most about this album is Domo’s development as an MC. It’s apparent he’s been spending a lot of time with Earl, as his rhyme schemes are more complex and drawling than ever.

The group also dropped a new video for “Extinguisher” which features Tyler and the rest of the OFWGKTA crew chilling backstage, smoking and drinking and getting rowdy while spitting over a old-school boom-bap-inspired beat with grimy-ass drums and horn samples. Hodgy’s verse on this track is the best we’ve heard from him to date–these guys have really refined the “I can rap and I don’t give a fuck” vibe that first made hip hop unique, but has been lost in a sea of emo-rappers over the past ten years or so.
