Reddit has changed our lives in innumerable ways, getting us free pizza delivered to class (see bonus subreddit), enlightening us on topics from engine dynamics to Hebrew, and showing us scary ass things on the Internet I hope to god I never see again. To pay tribute to arguably the most important website of our time, here are a few subreddits that you might now know about and should DEFINITELY BE ADDICTED TO.
I almost wonder if listing this subreddit is cheating, because it’s dedicated to the best, or worst, of Tumblr. The post that got me there is long gone, but here’s the thread. This subreddit consists of mostly people showcasing the ridiculousness of Tumblr-based “SJAs” or social justice activists. If you haven’t gotten a taste of the marriage of Tumblr and social justice, I strongly recommend you check it out.
r/ShittyAdvice is great and a lot of the posts sound a lot like me when I’m deliberately trying to give people bad advice. This subreddit needs little explanation. It’s exactly what it sounds like–a treasure trove of people deliberately giving bad advice.
Um…so, I’m not a man. I’ve never been a man and I’m pretty sure I’m never going to be one. But I still love Every Man Should Know. It’s a self-described “Archive of Manliness” I found while Reddit-stalking my ex-boyfriend, who has since “mysteriously” deleted all of his comments. I’ve learned a lot of great things via this subreddit, like how to drink whiskey like a man and how to properly tuck in a men’s button down.
2. r/Creepy PMs
I’ve gotten most of my karma from this subreddit, since I inexplicably get like fifty unsolicited dick pics per day. This subreddit is dedicated to posting creepy messages people send you. I check it once a day and it never ceases to make me laugh hysterically.
All the credit in the world to my best friend’s roommate for bringing this subreddit to my attention, without her I wouldn’t even know that it existed. Got a freakishly large dick? Has it proven to be problematic? Post here.
Post here and someone MIGHT order you a pizza. It doesn’t look like it works all the time, but it worked for me. I posted on here a few weeks ago in the middle of a comedy class and someone sent Domino’s! I felt so Internet popular. Give it a go! I know my boyfriend’s been wanting to send someone a pizza… (Why he would waste his money on someone other than me, who knows.)
