Big Sean is on a roll right now. After Control-ling the summer with his Kendrick-assisted song, he went on to kill his feature on Drake’s All Me and dropped a quality album in Hall of Fame. Now, still riding the wave, Sean is about to release his new clothing line, Aura Gold, and Carissa Rossi has the full scoop from Vegas.
They discuss the direction of Aura Gold, Sean’s favorite songs of his album and the classic story of how he met Kanye West at a Detroit radio station. Check the video above to see some samples of Aura Gold from Sean’s closet and more.
In the current state of hip-hop, where name-dropping the latest designer brands has become the norm, G.O.O.D. Music artists were pioneers in their field. Founder/fashion icon Kanye West deserves much of the credit, for his fashion awareness seems to have trickled down to labelmates and associated acts. From Christian Dior Denim Flow to 2 Chainz rocking Versace at any chance he can get, G.O.O.D. Music makes it clear that they aren’t lacking in the fashion department. With Big Sean set to release his modestly priced Aura Gold clothing line, let’s take a look at a history of G.O.O.D. Music collaborators.
2008: Kanye West X Pastelle. Kanye kept us in the dark about Pastelle. Only wearing jackets and sweaters at certain events, he was rarely seen his own creations. It’s been years since we’ve seen ‘Ye rock Pastelle gear, so it’s safe to say we won’t be seeing any new projects.
2008: G.O.O.D. Music X Crooks & Castles. L.A. Bred brand teamed up with G.O.O.D. music to release a shirt featuring G.O.O.D.’s very own cherubic mascot donning a bandana and brandishing a crowbar.
2009: Kanye West X Nike. The Air Yeezy I was a monumental investment for Nike, as teaming up with a non-athlete to create a sneaker paid off heavily. The hype and thirst for these were so real, you could see lines outside of sneaker boutiques from space. Kanye and Nike would later release the Air Yeezy II’s in 2012
2009: Kanye X Louis Vuitton. It’s only right that Kan the Louis Vuitton don, received a chance to collaborate with the famed French fashion house to release a collection of sneakers.
2010: Kid Cudi X BAPE.
2011: Big Sean X Diamond Supply Co. Inspired by Big Sean’s hometown of Detroit, hats, tanks, and tees were fashioned to incorporate the Red Wings while promoting Big Sean’s Finally Famous.
2011: Kid Cudi X Surface to Air
2013: Kanye X A.P.C.
2013: Pusha T X Marcelo Burlon
2013: Travi$ Scott X Been Trill
2013: Big Sean X Aura Gold. Built as a modestly priced clothing line released by Big Sean, Aura Gold has the potential to be a hit with the masses. With eclectic yet simple designs, Detroit’s son is sure to deliver with his brand of apparel.
