Called Classic for a Reason.

I've been wearing these shoes for 50+ years and this is the first year I had to buy a larger size. Not sure why you would mess with a good thing.? The toe was tighter and the canvas is a different material. Why change a shoe that is already proven!? Classic for a reason.

Yay, wide! Boo, lining change!

I have been buying this shoe for 12 years. This is my ninth pair. I SUPER love that they're now available in wide sizes and my last pair lasted longer than previous pairs because they weren't splitting on either side of the toe box because of the extra space. What I'm not a fan of is the now polyester/blend lining on the inside. They don't breathe quite like the cotton/muslin-lined versions. I wish for a return to cotton lining and for wide sizes to be available in stores instead of just online.

Very narrow!

If you have normal width feet like I do, you probably don't want to listen to the web site recommendation to go a half size down. They are ridiculously narrow. I wear a 5.5 in sandals and flats and a 6 in sneakers, since I wear socks. The 5.5s were WAY too narrow, and I've never had an issue with shoes being too narrow. The 6s are better, though almost on the edge of being too narrow still. And even looking right down at the toe box, it even looks too narrow for the rest of the shoe. I also tried a 6.5 but they fit like the 6s, just longer. I have to say these were much better fit-wise 20-30 years ago. And if you read all the complaints about people saying these run too narrow, you'd think they'd change something...

Great customer service

Great customer service. The first pair I ordered for my daughter had issues. The canvas pulled away from the bottom of the shoe forming a hole after 2-3 months of wear. Customer service replaced it, no problem.

Not what they used to be

Converse are a classic shoe and normally last a long time but this new pair feels like a knock off. The material is rough and feels cheap. Bought the white pair and after only wearing them for 3 days the material is already turning extremely yellow along the edges and this is in cold weather so I know its not a sweat stain. Very disappointed.

Great for the whole family!

My daughter is autistic and had adhd. These are the only shoes she will wear. Her last pair lasted her almost a year except she wears them out fairly fast. She tends to cross her big toe and middle toes inside her shoe so the sole and upper tend to separate. Otherwise a great shoe and a favorite in our house!

These shoes don't hold up

These were purchased as a gift for daily use shoes, and lasted less than three months.

The shoes weren't abused by any means, but still failed where the rubber and fabric meet. This was determined to not be a manufacturer defect, so I can only assume they were intentionally designed to have this level of durability.

Fits wide feet well

I got these shoes for my boyfriend in a 13 wide. He typically wears a 12 double wide if it’s available, but the 13W worked as well. It’s a little long for his feet but very comfortable and he loves them. The wide rubber strip bows outward at the widest part of his foot when he wears them so it’s really comfortable! He is very happy with his first ever pair of Converse and when they eventually wear out I’ll be getting him another pair

Bad sizing

I own several pairs of the chuck taylors high tops. All the same size. These purple ones are just cut different. My regular size 7.5 womens is way too small and the 8 womems is too big. I have bought 3 pairs in hopes that maybe one would have the right fit but unfortunately I am returning all three pairs. I really like the color and am very disappointed.

I followed the site's instructions and ordered half size smaller; however, the Converse I received in the size I ordered seem to be half a size big, they are kind of large for me. Additionally, I have worn them only once since received them, stayed indoors, no water was spilled, and no one stepped on them, however, I noticed that they have a slight yellow stain just above the red line around the entire shoe (this is happening on both shoes. :(

Aware of the size

My foot is 11 size or 28cm, and the shoe definitely runs big. The shape of the shoe is narrow and long, and does not always fit with ergnomics, so if you're looking for something like Nike, this is not a good choice. My suggestion is to buy half or a size down to find the fit size, hope this will be helpful.

I purchased these for my son. I am a Converse fan however, I am a little disappointed with these. I can clearly see glue on the canvas near the seams of the shoe. I want to love them, because they are cute overall, but I can't.

Couldn't ask for anything better

I love the classic fit. I feel like I can do anything in these - wear them about town but also sprint down the street if the moment calls for it. I also really like the padded sole. I have never had soft soles in Converse before, which is fine, but honestly it's been really nice and cozy especially since I wear them a LOT and am on my feet hours a day.
I do recommend wearing higher socks while breaking them in as the hemming around the ankle may rub.

Best deadlift shoe for me

Sizing is Way Off

I ordered a women’s 7.5 for my daughter’s birthday.I could tell immediately that there was something wrong with the sizing. They looked like they were meant for a child, yet the label on the tongue has the correct size. I visually compared them to a pair my daughter recently bought in brown in the same style and size. Not only was the size difference dramatically different, but details like the Converse logo on the side of the shoe were too. Almost looks like the factory mistakenly labeled the children’s shoe for an adult. I hesitate to order a new pair, as I might just end up with the same issue.

Stylish, but flat

They look great like converses do, just have no support. I recommend getting a pair of insoles for these, especially if you're of bigger size or stature. I wear mine casually, maybe only two to three times a week, and they're comfortable enough for short trips to class. If I know I'm gonna be on my feet for extended periods of time these are NOT my first pick. Very curious to see how to new models with better foot support feel in terms of comfort, but I just can't bite that pricetag yet.

I bought the shoe to wear with my sons college colors for his wrestling meets. They are my second pair. If you buy them to fit how long your foot is, they are too narrow. If you buy them to fit your width, they are too long. BUT I wear them anyway and pack another pair of shoes so that when they start to hurt I can change them out.

Definitely not "Classic"

If I hadn't ordered them directly from converse com, I would think these are counterfeit. Not sure what material they are using to make these now but it certainly isn't canvas. There is also a mesh lining on the inside that is abrasive and just feels weird. Please bring back the real "Classic" Chucks!

Finally a wide converse! They fit great on my wide flat feet. I usually wear a size 12.5 - 13 shoe in every other brand but I sized down to a 12 in these and they fit me great! No break in time at all and they are super comfortable. The forefoot of these are wide with still a standard toe box. A little roomy in the ankle area as well but not by alot.

Classic..?

The material is completely different. The canvas-like textile being used on Chucks for the past few decades was a great compromise (cheaper than the OG canvas that you can only get on Chuck 70s, but still maintained that classic canvas look and feel) that upheld the quality of a Chuck Taylor sneaker. Now it is some sort of plastic-y mesh. Yikes! The lack of documentation or news about this changes leads me to believe it is either a supply-chain issue, a cost-cutting measure, or maybe a bit of both. Regardless, the new Chuck Taylor All Star Classics are superficially the same shoe, but with an inferior material and a ever-increasing price.

Wide feet still have no Chucks to wear.

Supposed to be wide fit but the whole toe area is exactly the same traditional width. I’m f you have wide feet with toes that squeeze together to a point, these are your shoes. If you were wide width shoes from other manufacturers and like how they fit, these are not for you. Great idea. Horrible execution.

Quality is not the same as it used to be

I've been wearing Converse for 30 years. I just received a new pair of pink high tops and was surprised with the quality of the shoes. The liner is no longer cotton canvas, it's now some kind of synthetic/polyester mesh fabric. This makes the outer layer feel thinner than the other pairs I own. I'm also wondering if they're not going to be as breathable with the poly lining. The sizing is the same as I have always worn, not sure why people are saying to size up. They do look the same, but time will tell how long they last.

First pair of Converse ever.

This was my first pair of Chuck's ever and I honestly did not know what to expect in the size. I was pleasantly surprised to see how fit and wore. After wearing them a week I have to say they are great shoes. I put some comfort insoles in them to make sure I had enough padding but ended up taking it out because it made my foot rub on the top of the shoe and was not comfortable but so far the padding in the shoes are not too bad. Glad to have my first pair after being on this earth 46 years.

Strange Lining - New Style

Perfect color

The new thick lining is not great

I really hate giving the classic Chuck Taylor 1 star. Not sure when Converse changed their lining to a thicker padded lining, but it’s awful. Went to buy a new pair of white high tops the other day, saw the new material, and was very disappointed. Really wish it was just the normal canvas from just a couple years ago. Get the wides

The wides are where it’s at. My only beef with chucks was the narrow toe and the wides feel perfect. Maybe go down half a size from what you would get with the regular width. I use them for lifting and the wider toe box makes a big difference.

New lining, and soles wear quickly

Classic Chucks have a new inner fabric. It's softer, but I question whether it breathes as well as the original canvas. Yes - canvas can get wet easily and that's not good, but I'll wait and see if the new liner material breathes as well in normal use. Also, I continue to buy classic Chucks, but the heels in particular wear out way too fast. Some people might like that very broken in look, but it certainly cuts the useful life of the shoes and any cushioning when walking. The soles should be of a sturdier rubber, but this has always been a shortcoming. The shoes are originally meant for indoor court use (they're original basketball shoes) and they wear so quickly on concrete sidewalks.

I love Chucks. These could be better.

I bought these to customize as a gift. Upon inspection of the shoes, they had multiple factory defects. The first... one of the eyelets was falling off so I had to replace it myself. The sole of the left shoe has rugged, sloppy cuts on the rubber. They were stained brown (which I guess was okay since they were bought to paint on) Then the tongue is torn on the inside. At the end of the day, I did what I could to fix them up but I'd expect better. These things at least need an inspection before they get sent out.

Classic styling, minimal quality

The not great:
This classic shoe has clearly gone through several rounds of minimizing production costs. For example, the laces are stretchy and not smooth to the touch, made of what I think is a nylon blend instead of just cotton. The All Star patch is fused onto the canvas and there is no texture or embossing- it looks like a sticker added to the shoe. The insole will do very little to support you and is not removeable.
The good:
It’s such a classic look and really completes so many outfits. I sized down a 1/2 size as recommended which was great, but when I added a Superfeet insole for support it’s a splash tight in the toes. And I’m really grateful that it’s offered in a wide width. Shipping was free and really fast too. I would buy again but I’m a little disappointed with the quality.

Great for lifting

Still need to break them in. Were recommended to me for Olympic- and Powerlifting because they have no support. And that's true -- they offer no support, but for that type of lifting they're perfect because your foot stays flat -- no tilt like a running shoe or a trainer. Can't believe I wore them throughout my HS basketball career!!! Wide sizes still too narrow

Compared to my older pairs of Chuck Taylors, these were definitely more comfortable considering it has a foam layer as well as cushioning on the sides and tongue. My older Chucks were purely canvas. I am an 8.5 on a Brannock Device, regular width but on the wide side. These were the only wide sizes available, and they are still too narrow. The inner sides of my feet were still flooding over the sides. Unfortunate because I love the look of the classic Chucks. I can only hope Converse will make wider sizes in the future.

30 Years and Still the my Fav

Cons have always run a 1/2 size too big so I've always ordered, for the past 30 years, 6 and not a 6 1/2. The 6 fits perfectly.

Cons are one of the best shoes brands, in my humble opinion. I still have my original pair from high school (retired shoe, of course) all written on with pen and whiteout. Now, 30 years later, this 42 year old still prefer these to all other walking shoes.

Comfortable but they fall apart

Used to be great. Have worn classic chucks for 30+ years. In the 90s, they’d last a few years easy. Now lucky to get 1 year before they completely fall apart. Also, the felt that has recently appeared on the bottom is horrible. Generally they have great traction…that is until you hit the felt, and then there is none. Even if they don’t get more durable (and I’m sure they won’t), at least get rid of the felt

The Perfect Shoe if You Wear a Brace !

I haven't worn them yet , I'm waiting for my second pair of sa different color to come. I think it's due tomorrow ? I wear a different color on each foot , Seahawk colors !! I kinda sorry now , I didn't order 10 1/2's. I see them for sale used in that size. I wear a plastic brace on both feet/legs and could use a little extra room just to make it easier to pull them on. Trash delivery carrier

Shoes are fine but the method of delivery was not good. I needed these sent to my son and I could not put his address as the delivery and then they took forever to get here. I kept checking delivery date and it just vanished. It suggested I contact Converse because apparently the carrier you use is trash and they didn't process my package and didn't have record of it several weeks after the delivery date.. Much more comfortable than I remembered

I had a Converse long time ago - 20 year!? ago - I dont recall they being so comfortable. The cloth is soft and the sole seems to have some memory foam, which is great.
Size wise, I wear 6.5 normally, and ordered that size. I fit perfectly. Sometimes I go up 0.5 size, like with boots, but that was not necessary with this, as it runs a bit bigger.

Forever in chucks

My dad always wore chucks to play basketball he swore by them and I’ve been wearing high top chucks on a daily basis since I was a kid. I prefer them when they get nice and dirty and beat up so I usually put off buying a new pair as long as possible. My last pair finally starting getting holes in the soles from so much wear so it was finally time to order new ones. They definitely run a size big just like the description says so definitely listen and order a size down! I ordered one size smaller and they fit perfectly. Always a classic, always cool.

Thank goodness for the wide sizes!

I wish I would have known a long time ago that these shoes came in Wide sizes! I've been suffering through my standard width pairs for years, because I love the classic high top style so much. I always end up with blisters on my outer toes when I'd wear them for too long on a particular day. I was about to end my love affair with the style, and give up when I found them here in W! I also chose a half size up from what I had been wearing in the standard width. Now they're perfect! I've worn them for hours on several days since purchase, and they're comfortable as can be. I'm back in shoe love :)

Wide in the side

i have awful feet, and wide shoes are a must, especially in the side of the toe box.
i suffered wearing narrow shoes for a long time because i love the style, but when i saw chucks are available in wide i had to get some. These have proven to be the most comfy chucks i have owned in 35 years of having a pair. Love love love these shoes!!!

Wide width still not it

I ordered the wide in a half and full size down, and they were super long. Then I ordered a size and a half down, and while they’re still a little long, my toes feel a bit pinched on one foot. And the ankle is wider than I need. They’re cute and classic but pretty disappointing in terms of comfort, fit, and sizing.

Cheap new mesh padded lining.

My Favorite!

Been wearing converse for 35 years. Took a break, and tried out some other sneakers for a few years. This is my first pair in about 3 years, and I just don't know why I even tried other fashion brands. These are just so comfortable. Timeless! I can't believe I waited so long to get a pair of these high tops. I love them with everything - active wear, jeans, dresses, work clothes - it all looks cooler with Converse. Upon opening my order, I was disappointed to see the change in materials. I was unaware of the change in lining material, as I have been wearing my last pair for 3 years daily. Nice but white shoes get stained yellow

The shoes are nice and look great! But I got the white ones and they stain even if you are careful with them. I wore mine for only 2 days for an hour or 2 and I started noticing that some yellow liquid like stain was forming. It started on my right shoe and then progressed a bit and then the same started happening on the left side! I dont know how to clean them because when I tried using a wipe to try and get rid of the stain... It just stained more. So if you are thinking about getting converse definitely DO NOT get them in white unless you are ok with them being stained yellow. Also they do run big so definitely size down!

Not the quality I expect

Love the look, but the quality of the materials has definitely gone down over the years. I bought these to replace a 20 year old pair. The new ones are much flimsier and lighter than the old pair. No way these will last 20+ years. For example — one of the old shoes weighed 1.2 lbs (even with heavy wear on the sole). A new one weighs 11 oz. Feels and looks cheap, and I’m bummed.

Not the All Stars I wore playing in HS

...which is to be expected I guess, since that was way back when All-Stars were THE basketball shoe. But I bought this pair for old time's sake, and was surprised at the thin canvas and lack of any arch support. These shoes now seem to be strictly for looks and no longer an athletic shoe. Looks like I will have to buy some insoles.

Third time I've purchased these

I usually run these into the ground every 2 years or so. Glad they keep making this style and color way since it's become my go-to. Slight update to the upper fabric that I noticed: they've added a thin nylon interior so the upper is no longer 100% canvas. Overall, will probably buy this shoe for a fourth time in a year or two.

First time buying the WIDES

For the first time ever I got the wide width All Star Chuck Taylor Hi-tops. They are amazing but run a little big. I normally wear a size 11 but I think I could have gotten by with 10.5 or possibly even a 10. Other then that they are freaking amazing. Nice to have my toes being pinched! Traction and Stability

Looks great and comfortable but not durable. Wears down easily and the logo on the side is a low quality glued on printed piece of paper with cheap glue that starts peeling off after a few months of normal wear. This should be better quality and stitched on so the letters don't start fading after a few months.

laces were different lengths

they are great but when they arrived my shoelaces were two different lengths. One was to long and the other was too short which was odd. It’s not a big deal but the actual shoe is great and comfy.

These run really big

Something different

I am a diehard, Converse customer, and with my recent order of these all white classics I found a few details that were off from my recent pairs. Immediately when I open the box at first glance, everything seem normal, but as I looked at the shoe the inside wasn’t the standard canvas of the past instead a softer material. This wouldn’t be that big of an issue but when you become a creature of habit, especially with shoes I was thrown off and confused with the material change. I’m not unhappy just confused about the change, I do kinda wish they stayed all canvas but we’ll see how time tells

Definitely the best shoe ever... comfortable, pretty, and cheap. I used it in the snow (-29F), on rainy days, and everything. The first time I used it, it was amazing (I used it to universal). By the way, it's really easy to clean. Unfortunately, after 3 years of good everyday use, it broke the shoe's sole. :(

fell apart in 6 months

I like how they look with everything but somehow the bottom came unglued from the side after about 6 months so now there's a giant hole when I bend my foot and water can get in if i every step in a puddle.. I can't imagine it's anything I've done because all I do is walk in them, so it's disappointing a classic brand would make flimsy shoes.

Cheap material

I have not purchased a pair of All Star Classics in a while, as my old pair lasted forever. When this new pair arrived I immediately noticed that quality was no where near what it used to be. The sole seems really cheap and light weight. I live in the city and walk everywhere, and I don’t think the quality of this pair will live up to my lifestyle. It’s a shame as my old ones were awesome and made of much high her quality material. I’ll see how the new ones do, but they might be my last pair of Converses if the quality has become cheap but the price remains the same.

Got these for my boyfriend who had been wearing the same crusty Nike sneakers for like 2 years. He’s a size 15 shoe and since Converse recommends going down 1/2 a size but doesn’t have a 14.5, I just got him a 14. They fit perfectly and go with everything and he loves them! Sleek and well made.

I ordered these for a Halloween costume and I really like them. The sizing chart was really accurate and the shoes fit perfectly. I had read they were a narrow fit, but I did not find them to be that narrow and they were super comfortable. They look really nice, they feel like they are made of very quality materials, and they are super comfy! I love the design, and the ivory color works with a lot of styles, which has been really nice. It does take a bit longer to take them on or off compared to other shoes, but the extra time spent doesn't really bother me. They were also really easy to clean and if you take good care of them, they will probably last a long time. Great shoe!

Comfortable BUT Oversized

We all know there are different sizes when it comes to brands of shoes. I am size 11.5 in other brands and they fit like a charm. I decided to buy a pair of these online because I have never owned converse before. The size runs big... it makes it look like large clown shoes. However, they are comfortable but they run big and I was kind of disappointed. That is the gamble of buying shoes online. Will still purchase other Converse designs but knowing now that they are oversized on the shoe chart.

Classic Style

These Converse High Tops look great and fit comfortably. I have been having a difficult time finding these at my local department stores, so I decided to order a pair directly from Converse. I ordered this pair for my adult daughter. The only downside was that the shoelaces were two different lengths.

Everyone needs a pair

I had my eye on a pair of high top which Converse for quite some time now. I finally found what I felt to be an affordable pair and bit the bullet. They’re so comfortable. I am normally a size 8.5, but I wear 9 in Converse and they fit perfect. Honest to goodness I already want another pair in a different color.

Classics that go with anything

I've always loved Converse because they are the shoe that you can wear for almost any occasion. In my experience, they run a bit big, and they are pretty narrow. I used to have the regular ones, but I purchased the Wide width this time, and my feet definitely thank me! They look exactly the same as regular. Thanks Converse for making that option available!

Cheap and fashionable!

I’ve always loved converse, it’s like my go-to cheap shoe. I also have the classic black and white pair, they’ve been my favorite for a while. The red is vibrant, I wish they had more of a darker red option. But overall, they’re very nice for the price, compared to other shoes.

CUTE AND COMFORTABLE

These Converse are so cute and easy to style. In the begining, they are a little hard to put on, but once you wear them a few times, it gets easier and more comfortable. I would recommend getting half a size bigger than your actual size, because these sometimes run a little small and can be a little tight. Overall, they are great classic pair of shoes and I definitely recommend them.

Wide-Width!

Not What They Used to Be

The canvas is thin in comparison to my old pair. The new padding seems to be trying to make up for the thin canvas. The inner fabric is terribly cheap-feeling nylon. Maybe they're different in the ones that are a little more expensive. The only reason I didn't go for those was that the star wasn't right.

I probably won't get them again, though. The old ones lasted a while, and I don't feel like these are going to last as long. Maybe the other ones were different.
