About the Judges: Stash:

Stash was born in Long Island, New York in 1967. He is considered one of New Yorks graffiti legends, pivotal to the East Village scene of the early 1980s. He exhibited his first canvases alongside pop art pioneers Keith Haring and Jean-Michael Basquiat when he was only 17.
While his contemporaries turned to Pop Art, Stash stayed true to the subway, working on trains until 1987 when he created his last underground piece alongside Zephyr. His early works on canvas demonstrate a loyalty to his early career in the use of subway map collages and signature bold outlines and clean shapes. By the late 1990s, Stash had pioneered the use of graphic elements of graffiti on street wear through high-profile collaborations with companies such as Nike and Bathing Ape , as well as his own brands Recon and Subware.
The move ensured his work reached a much wider audience than the gallery visitor and played a key role in the widespread understanding of and eventual public acceptance of graffiti. Stash is now widely regarded as an innovator in the world of urban design. His fascination with the urban environment is evident in his perfectly executed photographic work, which features a combination of city motifs alongside the latest lighting and printing techniques.
Sage Vaughn:

Born in Oregon, artist Sage Vaughn lives in Los Angeles, California. His works propose a heavy dichotomy of beauty, violence and urban melancholy, packaged in a technicolor, sugary surface. His Wildlives series shows children dressed as Spiderman or with swords amongst scenes of firefighters or run-down, graffitied buildings, whilst another key work, An Overreaction to Beauty, studs a line-up of baseball bats with rusty nails and butterflies. A keen fisherman, Vaughn has collaborated with N.A.S.A on the music video Way Down, featuring RZA, Barbie Hatch and John Frusciante, both co-directing and contributing artwork to the clip.

Alex Prager:

Self-taught photographer Alex Prager has been widely exhibited since 2001, in cities such as Los Angeles, New York, London and Miami. Born and still based in the City of Angels, though splitting her childhood between Florida, California and Switzerland, she came to photography through the work of William Eggleston; her pictures too showing eye-popping saturated colour, narratives broken and snatched moments in time. Having contributed to publications including Details, i-D and Elle Japan, Prager won the London Photographic Award in 2006, with her first, 2007 solo show earning front page status of the LA Times Arts and Entertainment section.
Mercedes:

Mercedes Helnwein is a fine-artist, writer and video artist born in Vienna, Austria. Daughter to celebrated artist Gottfried Helnwein, Mercedes spent her teens in Ireland, recently adding Los Angeles as a second home. Jason Lee was an early supporter of her work, both collecting as well as hosting a number of her exhibitions.
He has said of her "...she's gone on to become one of the most respected and intriguing young artists of our time... Mercedes epitomizes the true pursuance of art ...sincerity and purity."
Her detailed drawings have been described by the press as "photo-realistic delicacies", "lucid fairy-tales," "haunting," "southern Gothic,""evocative" and "unexpected". Her self-portraits have been compared to Cindy Sherman and her sense of quiet drama to Alfred Hitchcock and Edgart Allen Poe.
